I plan a ski trip out West every year where the "real" mountains are.  Having grown up on the East coast, I didn't know any better, but once you get a taste of the powder out West, there is no turning back.  Initially, the ski trip started out as a group of Cornell friends heading out to the slopes, but it has grown to include friends and friends of friends.  Through 10 years, there have been 42 different people who have come on my trips.  If you're interested in joining this year's adventure, contact me for more details.

Rating Comments
Steamboat Steamboat Springs, CO 2001 (2) 8 One of the best snow days I've ever experienced; Awesome tree skiing; Not much going on for nightlife but very family-oriented
Big Sky Big Sky, MT 2004 (1) 8 Really good snow and very little lift lines.  Terrain is good and vast.  A little out of the way to get to but worth the trip!
Sun Valley Sun Valley, ID 2005 (2) 8 Nicely laid out mountain, nice views, great modern day lodges, good chance for celebrity sightings, short lift lines, good snow-making on groomer runs but crusty bowls if it doesn't snow in awhile.
Heavenly Tahoe 2003 (2) 7 Best scenic views I've ever seen on skis but getting from place to place around the mountain is a major chore
Moonlight Basin Big Sky, MT 2004 (1) 5 Brand new resort in 2004 that just opened but experiencing some initial problems such as evacuating their main 6-person chairlift.  Pretty decent otherwise and is bound to only get better.
Kirkwood Tahoe 2002 (1) 5 Smaller but the crowds aren't bad
Seven Springs Seven Springs, PA 1996 (1) 5 What's so great about this resort?  It made the Top 50 in North America.  How?
Bristol Mountain New York 1993 (~20) 4 Grew up skiing this mountain; 1,200 ft vertical rise which is decent for the area
Kissing Bridge New York 1992 (1) 4 Local resort closest to Buffalo

Swain New York 1990 (~6) 3 Close to Rochester but not as nice as Bristol
West Mountain New York 2002 (1) 3 Dinky mountain north of Albany
Whitetail Pennsylvania 2006 (3) 3 Got rejected in 1995 because we did not have reservations.  Will never ski here because of their retarded policy.  Update: They discarded that policy in 2001 finally.  Typical east coast ski conditions.
Round Top Pennsylvania 1996 (1) 2 Small bump in the landscape somewhere in PA
Mohawk Connecticut 1993 (1) 2 Mohawk?  Try Mole-hill
N/A Holiday Valley New York N/A N/A Raining when we went: "If I wanted to water ski, I'd find myself a Lake"
