Xiamen II
June 10, 2007 (Xiamen, Fujian, China)
My 2nd day in Xiamen was spent mostly with distant relatives that my family has not met but were really nice to take me around. My Dad's Cousin from his 3rd Uncle and another 2nd Cousin took me to the "Lu Village" ("Double Mouth" Lu) in Tong An District. Here there were several large tombs of prominent Lu's and recently in 2006, they erected a Lu Memorial in this Lu Village in the countryside but not too far from downtown Xiamen. Not in the village but nearby is the grave of my Great-Great Grandfather Lu3 Wei2 Tang2 a General of the Qing Emperor. We next stopped by my Grandfather's naval college Ji2 Mei3 but it was raining so hard we didn't get a chance to walk around. Then I went shopping at Zhong Shan Pedestrian Street back in Xiamen. Overall, a great experience despite the constant rain to see some of my family's roots.
