Giant Pandas

August 23, 2006 (Futou Hill, Chengdu, Sichuan, China)
I went to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding with Laura and Jenny. The rainy day was actually a blessing in disguise as the pandas were more likely to come out and play. Sichuan is home to 85% of the World's wild giant panda population and the research base is set up to promote the conservation of the giant panda, help in breeding and ultimately to reintroduce the giant pandas out into the wild again. There were 2 newborn panda twins, just 2 weeks old born on 8/7/2006. One was only 51 grams, the smallest panda in the World.
