Biggest Eater Competition
August 10, 2006 (Shanghai, China)
There was fierce debate amongst the global project team as to who was the Biggest Eater on the Project. Qualifying candidates were judged on their eating abilities during lunch and dinners around the World. From seafood joints in Canada, to steakhouses in Houston, to churrascarias in Brazil, to hot spicy kitchens in Thailand, the big eaters emerged. The finalists finally met up in Shanghai for the showdown. In the Blue Corner, representing the Americas, weighing in at 135, willing to eat anything in sight...Howard. In the Red Corner, representing Asia/Pac, weighing in at a few toothpicks, eating her body weight in a few sittings and keeping it off...Angeline. Oliver officiated the competition held at a Chinese restaurant (surprise) where they had countable dim sum items. The original plan was to count XiaoLungBao but they were big, juiceless and not too appetizing so the rules were slightly modified after eating 8 apiece to include dim sum items. There was so much yummy food before the dim sum items appeared that the competitors had to dig in and pre-eat to warm up their tummies. The onlookers waged bets and were awed by the food consumed. Final score: Americas 21, Asia/Pac 14.
