Chennai, India

September 20, 2005 (Chennai, India)
I had a 3 hour layover on my way from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Mumbai, India in Chennai, located in Southern India. Formerlly Madras, it is the 4th largest city in India. I hopped in a cab and went out for 2 hours to the beach, walked around for 5 minutes and then got back in and went back to the airport. It was worth it though to see the crazy traffic on the way there and back, the worst I've ever seen anywhere in the World.

Many vendors set up shop on the beach and hawk their foods and goods

My driver's English was ok and he stopped at this place he told me was worth seeing. Uh...it was a store. C'mon, we gotta get back to the airport, I don't have time to shop right now.

I landed at the domestic terminal and had to get to the int'l terminal to meet Anish. I met a few British folks who were also going so we caught a cab which cost more to go 2km than it did for me to hire a cab for 4 hours in Chennai!
