Mediterranean Cruise
May 15 - May 30, 2004 (Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Vatican City, Greece, Turkey, Austria)
We went on the 13 Day Princess Grand Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona, Spain to Venice, Italy. It was truly a Grand cruise featuring 8 ports of call along the Mediterranean shores. We explored on our own at each destination so we had a lot of flexibility but time was tight as we only had about 10 or so hours at each stop. It is a great way to get a taste of each location. Due to terrorism concerns, Istanbul was cut from the itinerary, but the Rome replacement was not too bad. The formal dining room food every night was spendid and it was an exception not to order ALL 3 appetizers and 3 soups on the menu in addition to an entree or 2 along with dessert(s). Toss in 24 hour room service and buffet, and I still haven't gained any weight =(
My Dad got remarried and the reception was held on one of the days at sea. There were 33 of us in the group out of 2,600 passengers, mostly friends of Dad and Betty but Amy, Alvin, Huiwen, Christine, Jeremy and Steven did our part to bring the average age down. From Venice, Amy and I took an overnight train (my first ever anywhere in the World) to Vienna, Austria and spent a day there before heading home.
