Canary Islands - Tenerife

July 1-5, 2001 (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain)
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It is very wealthy as evidenced by the numerous resort developments as well as the well-maintained roads and infrastructure. It is a very popular destination for Europeans and is akin to what Hawaii is to the US. The nightlife in some of the more popular areas has the atmosphere of a year-round spring break.

Drive to Granadilla. It looked beautiful in the brochure but it was just blah. Turns out we only saw the uninteresting part of the town.
