Heavenly Lake Tahoe Ski Trip Recap & Awards

Once again, a great and fun trip, but a little shorter than usual. 15 of us came this year, constituting the second largest trip to date. The scenery was awesome and the weather was really good as well!

Friday 2/28/03
Anish, Holly, Will and Evan drive up to Sierra
Oie Lian, Cindy, Chris and Jody leave a bit later and drive up to Sierra
Anish's car with Chris' skis gets to Sierra at 2pm, looks around and leaves for Lakeland Village Resort
Oie Lian's car gets to Sierra and they go tubing; Chris can't find skis
Sean and Christine arrive
Group goes to Caesar's for dinner and gambling
Chris manages craps fund and loses it all; Jody comes home as the "big" winner
Shirphone, Howard and Hetty arrive
Hang out in lodge

Saturday 3/1/03
Tom meet us early in the morning at lodge
Get up early and take Lakeland Village shuttle to Heavenly Gondola
SKI: Sunny, cloudy and a bit of snow in morning but then clearing up later in the day; A few inches of fresh powder overnight
Main group skis mostly on the Nevada side
Attempt to meet at Monument Peak for lunch
Most of group is misguided and ends up on Round-A-Bout
Retarded mountain layout causes us to arrive an hour later
Evan jams skis into plastic ski holder before heading in
Lunch serenaded by horrendous off-key live singer
It takes 5 grown men, a useless ski patrol, 1/2 hour, some suntan oil lubrication in a deodorant-like bottle and Tom's brute strength to eventually free Evan's skis
Meet at California Lodge Bar at end of day for drinks; Holly found her way back to condo…sorry, Holly =(
Last minute rally for hottub--long walk outside to get there
Personal shuttle pick-up in front of unit
John meet us after conference at Riva Grill
Dinner at Riva Grill: Good and pretty food, nice décor but slow, butter-challenged service
Hang out in lodge; Watch top travel ruin destinations on Discovery as people slowly pass out…

Sunday 3/2/03
SKI: Sunny and nice all day; great tree skiing; beautiful views of Lake Tahoe
Primarily ski on the California side
Anish and Wil collide on slope and call it a day; Hope you guys are feeling better!
Head back to SFO for dinner, catch flights, etc.
